Tuesday was a busy day for me.  In the morning I went to a Women In Business  networking meeting and in the afternoon I photographed a wedding in Chelmsford.

Ian and Kamila currently live in Skiathos in Greece and as that would have meant both sides of the family travelling from the UK and Poland respectively they decided to come back to Ian’s home town for the ceremony.  We decided to meet early and take some pictures in the beautiful grounds of Chelmsford Cathedral, accompanied by their gorgeous daughter Olivia.

Then it was a short walk to the registry office.

And finally off to The Bakers Arms in Stock for an intimate reception for family and friends.

This week has been a busy one for me.  From a meeting with fellow photographer Haley Ruth I have managed to network with two amazing local suppliers that have been very productive.

I met with Emma from A Bespoke Design  because I want some personalised stationery that will fit with my branding and be something that my clients both wedding and portrait will love.  Packaging is such an important part of a quality brand, we can all recognise a Tiffany or a Jo Malone and I knew that a specialist in bespoke stationery would be the best fit for me.  The stationery that Emma designs and produces is exquisite and I am really excited about the finished product but you’ll have to wait a few week for that.

Whilst chatting with Emma I told her that I wanted to have some branded goodies of the edible variety too and she gave me the details of Lucie at Wonderland Bakery.  After a quick back and forth via Twitter Lucie and I arranged to meet next week to talk things through.  We also discovered that we live very close to one another, she is in a village about 2 miles from me.  Skip to Saturday mornging and whilst laying in bed checking the astonishing outside temperature of -15 I also looked at my twitter feed and saw that Lucie was considering whether or not to venture out herself after joking that the farmer’s market she was due at would be too cold so she might have some cakes going cheap!  It is a well known fact that I am a lover of cake so I piped up with a ‘me please’ tweet that resulted in the lovely Lucie bringing me a box of cakes at the end of her day.  Yummy cakes delivered to my door = happy me!

We will still be getting together next week to talk about how she can help me on a professional level but her delivery made my weekend of a teenage house party SO much easier to bear, thanks Lucie!

Those of us in the east woke to a blanket of beautiful snow yesterday.  My children are teenagers and although keen enough to go out in the snow not so keen to pose for mum (again).  The animals of the Pearce household are much more biddable though, although the thought occurs to me that a teenage boy might come into the animal category anyway.

I ventured out in the morning to dig my chickens a patch to peck their breakfast on and was joined by a gorgeous robin also hoping for some breakfast.  I filmed a little of him singing his heart out and then the dogs going a bit nutty in the snow.  Then I waddled in, I had a lot of layers on, and grabbed my camera to see if he would stay still enough for me to try my hand at wildlife photography.

I know robins are cliche but I’m really pleased with this shot as to me it is not ‘another generic robin on snowy post’, it’s my robin singing his little heart out to me.

Today it’s all rather slushy and wet, the chickens are still prefering the shelter of their coop and the robin is still singing.  Roll on the Spring!

Well it’s Friday again and we’re bracing ourselves for possible snow in the east this weekend.  The weather, cold as it is, is actually quite beautiful at the moment.  Afternoon sunshine provided all the light I needed on this shoot.  I knew as soon as I saw the different rooms and windows available that we would get some great light and I even had to ask for the curtains to be pulled across at one stage because it was too bright – who said it’s too dark for indoor photography in the winter?  Not me.  Good.  Glad we’ve cleared that up and now onto the shoot.

Little Frankie’s parents are using my Babies First Year Package to have 3 shoots over a period of months to record Frankie’s progress.  We’ve had a bit of a gap between the first shoot and this one as she is now 7 months and she was 10 days old at the first shoot!  You can still see it’s the same baby though and I’m really looking forward to seeing her in early summer for her final shoot of the package.

We started with her just literally plonked on the floor in front of me and I got this shot which is actually my favourite of the entire shoot.

Followed by these.

Mum wanted some moody black & white shots for a framed image (she has the wall space set aside already) so with her oufit on we were ready to roll.

I feel like Frankie is a bit of a model baby in all ways!

I love my job,  the variety of subjects I get to shoot never fails to inspire me and every baby, portrait or equine shoot and every wedding is different.

Well OK it’s not really a shocker but a headline is a headline, no?!  This is the winter wedding of Liz & Rob and it was a tad unusual in that there were no guests and I was one of the witnesses.  We started at the amazing Danesfield House Hotel & Spa.  Liz and Rob were already in their wedding finery when we got there having spent some time using the Hotel and Spa facilities beforehand.  Danesfield has amazing interiors and exteriors and we took advantage of that and had a great shoot.  Props to Liz for not showing how freezing it was outside!

Firstly we were in the warm.

Then outside.

Then off to Chelsea to the registry office.

Off they go and I can go home and put a couple of big ticks on my wedding wish list for being a witness at a wedding I also shot and getting a London bus and a taxi in a shot!

I  have a great Hampshire summer wedding I’m waiting to post but I think I’ll wait until we have some proper cold weather, oh wait ….

Happy Saturday – this is a quick post, a sneaky peek at a beautiful baby girl.  You may recognise her from a shoot that I did when she was 10 days old, well now she’s a 7 months old.  I’ll give you some more detail on the full post but I just had to share this one.

When I take pictures of horses I treat them the same as I would any portrait client.  I shoot with the thought that the end product  will be used as a piece of art in your home as well as a tangible record of the subject.  Those of us horse owners that compete will have a bunch of ‘competition’ shots of our horses in trot and canter, hopefully showing our horses working at their best.  Mine also show me with various concentration faces as I’m trying to remember where to go and I’m usually beetroot in the face too!

I want to give my clients pieces of art that feature their own animals.  Images that can go on the wall of their homes and stand on their own merit and are beautiful to look at too.  With this in mind I thought I would show you a few framed images and how you can use them together to create a beautiful record of your horse.

I have some more framed equine photography to share later on and have a baby shoot this week that I’m really looking forward to sharing too.

I was doing some housework, cleaning up my hard drive, I don’t do dusting, when I realised I hadn’t posted about this shoot.  Rose and Crown Hairdressers in Covent Garden, London asked me to do a shoot for them to highlight the retro styling that is so popular at the moment.  I love shoots like this, I get the chance to play.  All the models are clients of the salon and were very patient and I think that in the end even the guys enjoyed themselves.

This is all still ‘bang on trend’ looking in this months Vogue (it’s a legitimate business purchase) magazine pastels are all over it.  Roll on the spring.

When you get asked by a fellow wedding photographer to 2nd shoot for them it’s always a compliment.  It means they trust you to get the shots they can’t get on the day.  When that photographer is award winning and a trainer it is an affirmation.  The photographer in question is Stuart Cooper and as his wife and usual shooting partner was sidelined for a while after having a baby I was happy to step in and help.  Double bonus for me then that this wedding was in Milan, Italy.

Stuart left me to record the bridal preparations whilst he shot the groom and his party getting ready.  The brides parents summer home in the hills outside Milan was to be the setting for the reception after the ceremony and so was full of beautiful details, as well as the bride, for me to shoot.

Shoe afficionados amoungst you will notice the Louboutins.  I had to explain to Stuart afterwards why I’d taken quite so many shots of them – it’s a girl thing.

I know the teacup is random but I just loved it.

The bride was radiant.

And then it was off the to the church for the ceremony.

The food and details back at the house were simple but beautiful.  After a sit down 5 course meal tables were laid out with fresh fruit, childrens sweets as well as panna cottas of all different flavours.  Photographers tip of the day, shoot first then eat – and we did!

This past few days I have clocked up over 1200 miles in my car.  A trip to Devon at the weekend (see previous post) and then up to Aspire Photography Training for a training day with wonder man Fer Juaristi.

All I can say is wowsers.  This is a man high on life. His level of enthusiasm for his craft and for my fellow photographers was limitless.  He gave of his time, his creative process and he dolloped a great wodge of Fer magic on us all.

I know that I have developed creatively because of the shoot he took us on and I have already impleted at least 2 of the business tips he shared with us.  I feel a bit weird about posting shots from the shoot on here as I feel like they are his shots and not mine  – even though obviously I took them. So I’ve just chosen my 2 favourites to share.

Thanks Fer and thanks also to the Aspire team, I’ll defo be using my voucher next year!
